Liberal Control Freaks

I can draw a line through “Caribbean” on my bucket list now. A week on Grand Cayman was a nice break from winter which was raging when I left on March 2nd. March came in like a lion but has become profoundly lamb-like less than halfway through the month. Looking down on my back field from my office chair, I see brown grass on the north side, while snow still buries the southern half. In Maine, it usually looks and feels like winter during the first week of official spring on March 21st, but this year it feels like spring while it’s still officially winter. If this is climate change, I like it. Paleo-Americans liked it too, I’m sure, as they watched the Pleistocene glaciers recede north from here 13,000 years ago. Unlike us today, however, they suffered no illusions that they caused all that melting by burning wood in their cooking fires as they roasted their mammoth meat. They just enjoyed the warmth. Taking a cue from them I moved down to my back porch where it’s 65 degrees on March 12th. Nice.

Liberal Democrats, however, think this is bad. They worry about melting ice caps drowning cute polar bear cubs and flooding coral islands. That’s okay with me if they want to stress themselves over it, but it’s not okay when they want to tax me into oblivion thinking they can thereby prevent it by making fossil fuels like gasoline too expensive to buy. They can buy windmills and solar panels, Priuses and Chevy Volts if it makes them feel better too, but I object when they want me to pay them for doing so.

People don’t want to buy Chevy Volts, so the Obama Administration wants to further subsidize them with another $10,000 per car with my money. I don’t want to pay them more so they can feel “green,” and “progressive” and morally superior to the rest of us. They can put up windmills and solar panels and ride bicycles with funny helmets and spandex, but I don’t want to pay them to do so. I like electricity and hot showers, but I like those things on cloudy days and when the wind is calm too, so I’d rather buy my electricity and hot water in the usual, reliable - and cheaper - ways.

Liberal Democrats are control freaks. They think they know what species should live and which should be wiped out - and they would use the power of the federal government to implement their schemes. The environmental whacko (EW) wing of their party (actually it’s more than just a wing, but a good part of the legs and torso too) put northwest loggers out of work as they “protected” their beloved spotted owl. There were more trees to hug up there, but that wasn’t enough for them or their cute little owl.

Don’t get me wrong; I like owls. As I write this on the back porch, a nearby barred owl is hooting to another further down the hill. I like to hear their “hoo, hoo - hoo-HOO” early in the morning. As ornithologists write, their hoot kind of sounds like: “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you-all.” I saw a barred owl once on the edge of my field and wrote about it here. Their hooting has charmed me ever since, but now the Obama Administration wants to shoot barred owls to protect the sacred spotted owls which they prefer. Barred owls are bigger and they’re crowding out the smaller spotted owl. The environmental whackos justify killing one owl to protect another by claiming the barred owl is “not native” to northwest forests. It migrated there. Control freaks to the end, they believe they know better which species should live where even though history shows animals, birds and plants are constantly migrating. Evidence indicates that horses covered North America until hunted to extinction by paleo-Americans, but were re-introduced by the Spanish five hundred years ago. Would they want to go around and shoot horses too?Liberal Democrats are entitled to whatever crazy ideas they wish to discuss in their green seminars. What I don’t like is when they appoint people like Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to positions in which they spend my tax money trying to implement their screwball schemes.

Most of us here in New England like climate change. We can’t do anything about it anyway, no matter what Al Gore and the rest of his environmental whacko friends believe, so just relax and enjoy it.

I have a truck that gets 12 MPG and a small car that gets 30 MPG.
Seems like a fair balance to me.

Isn't it strange that Congress notices high gas prices when its election time.

Gee-, big surprise, more inane comments concerning the fake dualistic paradigm!

..."A rephrasing of Einstein’s quote to describe political America would be “Insanity is voting Democrat and Republican over and over again and expecting different results.”

A single machine with two major cogs that serve the same purpose, we have one major conglomerate of corporations marketing itself as two dominant political parties, and it is succeeding to such a degree that the Obama presidential campaign won an award for its marketing, beating Apple, Coors, and Nike in the process. They would not have won this award nor spent the largest amount of campaign money in history for marketing that did not work.

Call it cognitive denial or willful ignorance, but those most successfully marketed to are the last to recognize it. People need to feel acceptance and go to great lengths to achieve this in life. Teens wanting to fit in will buy into brand consciousness that, for the right price, tells them they are hip, cleverly odd, or independent, and political adults will do the same for imagery and rhetoric that reaffirms their needs or beliefs. Marketing has evolved over time, and people’s acceptance of reality as a marketed entity has evolved right along with it.

Consider the propaganda of this one-orthe-other, least-worst landscape. There is a co-opting of words like “progressive” to mean that the other side is stagnant rather than what the word actually means: favoring or promoting progress. The current Democratic Party of the U.S. has, in policy, only promoted the progress of the Bush-era agendas of an illegal and immoral war of aggression, crimes against humanity, torture, spying on its own citizens, removal of habeas corpus, removal of civil rights for which nobler people have died, and extraordinary rendition, as well as declaring the President’s right to assassinate Americans at will. The military budget has increased to the largest amount in history, and the federal budget of the United States allocates more than half to the Department of Defense. The word “progressive” has lost its positive, constructive meaning in our Orwellian world..."

Get over the emotionally charged bs that the corporate media feeds you, please! FOcus on some real issues! There is no left vs. right debate anymore---why? they are controlled by the same mega corporations!! How does this evade you?

How about:
Syrian Danny---faking gun shots and lying about Syria on CNN. He actually stages gun shots etc. for CNN!

Libya---Al Quaeda cages blacks makes them eat flag. Good job Barak! These poor bastards were a million times better off under that nut quaddafi!

NDAA!! Hello!!! Good Bye constitution! But let's worry about gay men and catholics.

Last weeks testimony by Panetta that the obama admin. will not seek congressional approval for war in syria, rather, UN and NATO permission!!

As a result of Panetta's testimony a shocked representative from North Carolina, Walter Jones jr., has submitted a resolution to impeach Barry if he invades Syria with no congressional approval!

To classify Obama as a liberal democrat is a serious mistake. He has/had us involved in more war simultaneously than W did. That's a fact. He smugly ignores congress---- invades counties without their constitutional consent, and while touting the importance of transparency in presidential administrators while running he has turned out to be the least transparent ever!!! And is jailing much needed whistle blowers at will. How about gitmo?
So, no. I don't see obama as a liberal democrat. Hardly.
He is a neo con. Period. The exact opposite of what a liberal democrat stands for.
It seems there is a lot of ignorance coupled with the white mans guilt that keeps Obama in charge.
He should be in jail for fast and furious.

Babble babble babble. Same blame game, different preachers. Wonder what ever happened to the US in U.S.A.
All I hear is hate from both sides. Too bad we can't ALL grow up a bit and get along. The real losers in this are all of us.

Merry Green Day.

St. Pat's too religious sounding.

St. Patrick's day is just another co tried holiday in your fantasy of america.

March 17 is the day generally believed to be the death of St. Patrick, the British-born missionary who is credited with converting Ireland to Christianity. And as I wrote in one of my first posts on this blog:
In Egyptian mythology, Osiris was killed on the 17th day of Athyr, the third month of the ancient calendar.

3/17 is also the date of a Masonically-created holiday, St. Patrick’s Day. The story has it that the holiday was established by high level Freemason, George Washington, allegedly to reward Irish soldiers in the Continental Army. But “St. Paddy’s” has traditionally been a very minor Saint’s day in Ireland. Considering that the day has become America’s defacto Bacchanal (which takes us back to Osiris) it’s worth noting some of the parallels of this day with Solar mythology.
• Osiris was believed to be the source of barley, which was used for brewing beer in Egypt.

• It’s customary to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day and Osiris was known as the “Green Man”

• The root word of Patrick is pater, the Latin word meaning father. Osiris is the father in the Egyptian Trinity.

Educator McLaughlin is offering up some bogus info. The Chevy Volt is actually a big success.

I certainly hope that McLaughlin will opt out of his taxpayer subsidized retirement and health plans, and choose to treat any future health problems with leeches. That level of science seems to be just his speed.

buttercup---He's sent his life 'teaching' children the elite bankster version of "history". And he believes it.
In addition, he seems to know everything. He believes that too.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a relevant article---he's to caught up in the fake two party game. Hopefully, he will wake up and realize he, like everyone else, is being played.
