Clueless Commander

Israel’s enemies and our enemies are the same. Why doesn’t President Obama know this? This guy is supposed to be brilliant? Either he’s clueless or he’s conspiring to turn our biggest ally in the Middle East over to our mutual enemies. I cannot think of any other reason why he would make a major speech saying Israel must return to its 1967 borders. Doesn’t he know this would invite still another invasion of Israel by the hostile, Arab-Muslim countries which surround it? They’ve already invaded three times: First in 1948, then again in 1967, and still again in 1973. These countries didn’t want peace with Israel. They wanted Israel gone. The Amin al-Husseini, Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem, cooperated with Hitler during WWII, recruiting Muslims to serve in Himmler’s SS to kill Jews during the Holocaust. During their attempted 1948 Arab invasion of Israel, Nazis were recruited to kill Jews again. At least some Palestinian Muslims were advised to get out of the way because the invaders intended to kill Jews and it would be nasty, so thousands left for Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt lest they get in the way. They expected to return when the Jews were all killed, but it didn’t work out that way. Those pesky Jews, with their backs to the wall and fighting for the first time in two millennia for their own homeland, prevailed over much larger invading Arab armies whose humiliation was intense. Afterward, they had all those Palestinian Arab refugees in their home countries to whom they’d bragged about their military prowess. These hapless Palestinians were now homeless and unwanted even by their fellow Arabs. Arab Muslim humiliation was so intense they invaded again in 1967, but again were defeated by scrappy Jews. This time though, Israel retained the West Bank from the invading Jordanians, the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from invading Egyptians, and the Golan Heights from the invading Syrians. Even though those countries invaded Israel again in 1973, Obama wants Israel to give those strategic lands back to the invaders as a way to “achieve peace” in the region? What planet does he live on?Yours truly at the Temple Mount (taken from Palestinian East Jerusalem)

After 1967, Jews were in possession of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount - their holiest place - for the first time in 2000 years. Constructed on top, however, was the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, as an “in-your-face” gesture to Christians and Jews more than 1200 hundred years ago. Nonetheless, Israeli allowed Muslims to maintain control over their shrines on top, and were content to worship at the Wailing Wall below the Temple Mount in the back - all that remains of Herod’s Temple. Now President Obama expects Israel to give it all over to the radical Muslims in Hamas who are dedicated in their very charter to destroy the Jews. Is he crazy?Church of the Nativity

If Israel went back to the pre-1967 borders as Obama insists, not only would Israel become indefensible, Hamas would also control the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Old Jerusalem. Those are the holiest sites in Christendom, where Christ was born, where he died and where Christians believe he rose from the dead - sacred places for 1.5 billion people around the world. What could we expect with radical Muslim control of these sacred sites if it becomes a Palestinian state?Church of the Holy Sepulcher

In 2002, Muslims assaulted the Church of the Nativity - oldest Christian Church in the world and held it for 39 days. It is located in Bethlehem, of course, which is in the West Bank. Radical Muslim Palestinians shot it up, ransacked it, urinated and defecated inside and held Christian clerics hostage. When I was there in May, 2007, it still hadn’t been completely cleaned up.

Israelis know what their Muslim enemies have planned for them even if President Obama doesn’t, and they won’t go like sheep to the slaughter as they did under the Nazis. Radical Muslim Iran is building nuclear weapons to “wipe Israel off the map,” but Israel has had its own nukes for fifty years. Does Obama really think Israel is going to lay down and die to appease Muslim pride?

If he does, he truly lives in La-La Land. His proposals won’t lead to peace in the region. Instead, they’ll make a wider, more devastating war more likely. It’s time for Obama to become our former president.

"...why he would make a major speech saying Israel must return to its 1967 borders."

He didn't. He said they should use them to start the negotiations.

What’s more, Obama sided with Israel on several key points. It was the Palestinians, he said, who “walked away from talks.’’ He warned that “efforts to delegitimize Israel will end in failure.’’ And he said Palestinians must give a credible answer to the question posed by the presence of Hamas in a unity government: “How can one negotiate with a party that has shown itself unwilling to recognize your right to exist?’’

Don't bother pointing out the truth to Tom. If it doesn't fit his view he disregards it and makes up his own truth. I only had to read part way through the first paragraph to notice that Tom would be basing another whole column on untruths.

Too bad the Weekly World News went out of business. Tom may have found his niche writing about aliens and batboy and other fantasy stories that he seems to love so.

Hold on kids, a real teacher is on the way in September!

Tom has been spending too much time listening to Hannity -(baaaa, baaaaa -like a good little sheep) and not enough time dealing with reality. Does he have ANY idea what Obama really said in his speech or did he just take Hannity's word for it?

What really sums up Tom's sophmoric writing, void of original thought, simply rehashed spin and untruths that others have spouted before him, is the return of the photoshopped Obama flipping the bird! I can picture him giggling like a little school girl as he pastes the photo. Tee hee....a picture that does not show the truth to go along with words that don't tell the truth. How perfectly fitting.

Mr. McLaughlin - you are right and your detractors are wrong. The Arabs want Israel gone and even though three wars taught them nothing, they are determined to erase Israel. Obama is a too-willing dupe in the mix, trying to "win the hearts" of his fellow Muslims.

Wow. I don't know where to begin. First, Obama did not insist on anything. Why make things up? Second, did you happen to catch israel's prime minister giving a speech in front of congress yesterday? You would have thought congress was applauding OUR president, but no, they gave Netenyahu 39 standing ovations !!! 39!! What? Where does this reverence come from? maybe it's because AIPAC owns half,of congress?? Do you realize the power Israel wields in this country? Unprecedented and sickening. I am fed up with my tax dollars going to Israel!! Do you realize the amount of money we give them for their freakin' military every year? Billions!!! They should be paying taxes!! Remember the Israeli flotilla that killed Americans and we just said, "oh well" it's Israel, our true leader, our puppet master, nothing happened. Tell me something Tom , why do you give a s@¥¥? Personally I don't care. It is not an issue that the USA needs to pay attention to. We have more than enough tom take care of here, in this country...Terrorism? Nope, sorry' don't buy it. Oil? Nope.
Israel violates more human rights than any other country on the planet. But because the christains tell you to care about Israel you do. They truly are the 51 state of the union. The money Tom ! Ya think we could use it here?
How can Obama make speeches about the great " Arab spring" while ignoring the shooting of unarmed Palestinians last week. The hypocrisy is staggering...it's time to end this fixation with Israel. There is absolutely no reason to throw billions of dollars at a country the size of rhode island that gives absolutely nothing in return..enough. This is beyond ridiculous and your blind support, with very selective historical context, is anything but american. Seriously, I know Jews who cannot stand the Zionist movement.. I wish I cold find the video clip of two teenagers israel bragging about how there ancestors killed Jesus..brainwashed much Tom? And if you really believe. Obama is going to shun Israel you don't get it..remember AIPAC? They own congress!!!!! Hmmm, I wonder how they get support of their country from American congressmen?
I mean really, it made me sick to watch our congress cow towing to Netenyahu yesterday...sickening ....

Yes, we know. It is quite obvious that the main reason for your writings is not to inform people, not to take a side on an issue and rationally discuss it, but simply to annoy people. Tes, Tom, we know liars are annoying people. Obama's words:

The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states...."

He then explains what “mutually agreed-upon swaps means:

"By definition, it means that the parties themselves -– Israelis and Palestinians -– will negotiate a border that is different than the one that existed on June 4, 1967."

Do you see, John? Tom? He clearly states that the border would be DIFFERENT than the 1967 border. That is a far cry from insisting that the boundries must be the same as 1967.

Just let me know if you need more comprehension help.

Boy you guys are spring loaded to the "pissed off position". You missed it all together. This was a set-up for Benjy. Obama knew he would erupt. Then he could pull out his escape clause, "negotiated swaps" and say "What's new here? Just like always." Then there is the fact that O stated it preemptively, when a couple days would have enabled it to have been made jointly, in proper context w/ Benjy by his side. O has a history of slighting Israel and Benjy.

I guess you didn't know about these ones:

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

I always like the writers who hide their lack of historical knowledge behind some other name besides their own.

The Arabs have been consistent, since Isreal was formed, they want Palistine to go back to its pre- 1947 borders (which were wrested from the Jews at the time of Mohammed). During that period the Arab/Muslims armies conquered much of the world surrounding the Mediterrian.

If the Arab/Muslim claim to Palistine prior to 1947 is valid because they took it from the Jews by combat, then the Jews have every right to reclaim their lands from the Arab/muslim interlopers.

What I think really upsets the Muslim world is the fact that tiny Isreal defended its partial restoration against Arab/Muslim armies that were vastly superior in numbers and equipment in 1947.

In 1967 and 1973 the Israelis again defeated the armies of Jordan, Syria and Egypt and regained more of their historical homeland.

Now, apparently, several of you writers and the President would have the Jewish people give back their ancient homeland, won by their courage, determination, sacrifice and military skill, to the very same people who took it from them in the first place.

You might consider viewing the forest of history, a little more, as your vision seems to be limited by the trees of current propaganda.

As for quoting Biblical sources to refute Koranic sources, you should really view them in real time and see how the exponents of Judaism, Christianity and Islam view their holy writings today.

Christians and Jews no longer stone people to death for infractions of theology; they don't behead people to make a point; they don't have honor killings; they don't treat woman as chattel; they don't teach that it is holy to have Jihad against non-believers (the Crusades ended 900 years +/- ago) and they don't teach that, if a Jihadist dies in battle, he will receive 72 virgins for his pleasure when he reaches heaven (women are now blowing themselves up for Jihad - what do they get when they reach heaven).

I have always wondered about that virgin thing, like what happens to the virgins once their virginity is gone and do the Jihadist get to trade them in for new virgins. But, I digress.

The Palistinians won't even admit that Isreal has a right to exist. They will not be satisfied until they get back to the pre-1947 border and Isreal no longer exists (check out Arafats refusal to accept victory at the Wye Plantation meeting with President Clinton).

Lastly, the Palistinian Jihad is only one act in a multiple act play. The final act is the re-establishment of the Caliphate and domination of the Western World (including America).

Been out working my other two jobs so I can pay taxes and support all those Democrats on the public dole.

The 1967 lines are a "starting point" In negotiations? Okay. So without the West Bank and Golan, with what will Israel negotiate? It's the ultimate non-starter. It's what Obama's old friends Edward Said and Rashid Khalidi have always wanted, not to mention his buddies in CAIR, that unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation, terrorist-funding trials, that close friend of Hamas.

Netanyahu schooled our clueless commander on the basics of Middle East History the other day in the oval office, in front of the press, and the Clueless One was fuming. Did any of you watch it?

I gave Obama the benefit of the doubt by suggesting he's clueless. The alternative is that he's siding with our enemies - which are the same as Israel's enemies as I said in my opening line.

It's quite evident that the above posters are ignorant of that very basic fact. Israel is the canary in the coal mine in this global war on terror. Obama's radical friends call it the "Little Satan." They call us the "Big Satan." If Israel falls to the radicals, we're in big trouble, and Obama's policies are leading in exactly that direction.

Israel isn't going to lay down meekly either. If our enemies want another Holocaust, they'll very likely get one - and many of them will be incinerated along with their intended victims. The world as we know it - the cushy existence we've all become so accustomed to - will be fundamentally altered.

The situation over there isn't anything like community organizing. This is the Big Leagues and Obama is out of his. You folks elected him and we'll have to live with that at least until 2013. If he's still in the oval office beyond that, we're all screwed.

Anonymous said...

I would take Jock a little more seriously had he bothered to engage his brain and actually read all the replies over the last several weeks before spouting off. Two weeks ago Tom was actually given a list of lies he couldn't back up:

"Tom must be overwhelmed by all the different lies he has been called on here, so let me sort it out for him:

*The couriers name was gotten through waterboarding.

*Soldiers can not fire back at civilians firing at them

*Detainees must be released after 96 hours

*Officials in the Obama administration claim that waterboarding had nothing to do with finding Osama"

Last week it was the matter of Obama tripling the defecit. This week it was claiming Obama insisted that the boundries must be the same as the 1967 ones NONE of these have proven to be true. The thing is, Tom KNOWS he is lying and so doesn't try and stand behind his statements when called on them...he leaves that to his flock of sheep who believe automatically what he says, but all they can do is complain about Tom being called a liar - they fail to defend his lies as well.

Dishonest people who's word means nothing is a personal pet peeve...obviously it doesn't bother some other people the same way.

Words have meanings, Tom. The words "The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps" are vastly different than the words "Obama insisted that Israel must return to its 1967 borders." Your stating otherwise was dishonest, no two ways about it. Spin, pure and simple, because without it wyou have nothing.

Tom whines about his taxpayer money going to "democrats on the public dole, but ignores corporate welfare. Typical hyocracy.

Corporate welfare continues unabated

By Douglas Turner

One of the best places to see the hypocrisy of the Republican deficit reduction plan is in the GOP's treatment of "corporate welfare." A case in point is the $6 billion a year that taxpayers surrender in subsidies for ethanol at 45 cents a gallon, almost all of which goes to refiners who blend the stuff with gasoline.

The subsidy comes in the form of a tax credit. That expense comes off the top of the dollars that a company otherwise owes Uncle Sam. The plan of House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to slash the deficit has a section on "cutting corporate welfare." Somehow Ryan sees the laws the Democrats passed to restrain Wall Street crooks as corporate welfare, and he is very specific about wanting investment banking restored as the "oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York." (From "Guys and Dolls," not Ryan.)

While Ryan's plan details how it will kill Medicare and smother Medicaid, it really offers nothing about tax credits, which some analysts say cost the federal treasury a trillion dollars a year.

There are tax credits that benefit individuals, such as write-offs for a new home furnace and for replacement windows. Some aid families, like Sen. Charles Schumer's college tuition tax credit, and some help manufacturers and homeowners, like the solar panels credit.

But the ones that have the most disastrous effects on federal budgets are credits for fabulously profitable global oil and gas businesses. The Congressional Research Service found that eliminating just one of several goodies enjoyed by the oil and gas exploration business would provide up to $6 billion in new revenue in the next four years.

They're nothing more than boondoggles that have no positive effect on employment other than feeding the armies of lobbyists and special interest lawyers who help keep the racket going.

Here is what Abraham Foxman, the head of the Anti-Defamation League, had to say about Obama's speech:

"I don't see this as the president throwing Israel under the bus," he told me. "He's saying with `swaps.' It's not 1967 borders in the abstract. It's not an edict. It's a recommendation of a structure for negotiations."

Foxman said that the broader characterization of the speech as anti-Israel by some on the right is also off base, citing its insistence on Israel's right to self-defense, its opposition to the Palestinian statehood at the United Nations, and other matters.

"The speech indicated to me that this administration has come a long way in better understanding and appreciating the difficulties facing both parties, but especially Israel in trying to make peace with the Palestinians," Foxman said.

Hmmmm, who should I listen to? An uber-partisan Con who is known for giving an anti-liberal knee jerk reaction to everything, or the head of the Anti-Defamation League who has devoted his life to Jewish survival, and to Israel's defense.

So when he declares that President Obama isn't anti-Israel, it's safe to believe him over Tom.

I wonder what Tom thinks Abraham Foxman's motivation is for statements. Or does Tom audacity to say that he is more knowledgable about these matters than this man?

So Israel apparently has carte blanche to shoot at anyone anytime. Yeah, I get that ther protesters are crossing the border, or are very close, but they have NO weapons!!! Why are they being shot?

It's like us shooting mexicams as they crossed the border.

Wait didn't our president say we would not stand for a country firing on innocent people??? Oh right, this is Israel.
Where my tax dollars go to ammunition that shoots innocent people from stolen land..now I get it and it makes sense now that we should blindly support these people.
