Democrat War On Cops

Most of us are hyper-aware of police. If we’re in a hurry and driving over the speed limit, we’re trying to avoid them. We look in the rear-view mirror or ahead of us and cringe if we see one, slowing down immediately. Cops know this. If we’re victims of a crime, however, they can’t appear fast enough. Cops know this too.
Years ago a cop knocked on my door, and when I invited him in he handed me a summons. He wore a bullet-proof vest under his shirt and I asked him why he had to wear that just going around delivering paperwork. He said cops don’t know what type of reception they’re going to get and have to prepare for the worst. It’s the same reason they don’t stand right outside of your driver’s side window after stopping you. They’re trained to stand to the rear and you have to turn your head way around if you want to make eye contact.
Regardless of what you may have heard, cops don’t like writing speeding tickets, but they do like helping people. That’s why they became cops. They also know more about the public than the public knows about them because they see us at our worst. Years dealing with people who are stealing, molesting, assaulting, killing, or just going crazy is debilitating. A retired detective recently told me he’s writing about cops partly to help civilians understand why so many become alcoholics and/or suicidal. It’s a tough job.
Gentle Giant robbing, assaulting store owner just before he assaulted a cop and got shot

I had dinner with another cop soon after the Michael Brown shooting two years ago. The media was full of stories of how a racist cop Darren Wilson shot “gentle giant” Michael Brown in the back while he had his hands up pleading: “Don’t shoot!” After a few weeks, some of us learned that none of that was true — it was all made up by Brown’s friends and completely swallowed by liberal media. He wasn’t a gentle giant. He was a thug and he wasn’t running away. He was assaulting Officer Wilson and trying to grab his gun. After the media had so saturated the public with the “Hands up! Don’t shoot!” lie, however, facts didn’t matter. Most Americans still believe Brown was shot by a racist cop.
The officer with whom I had dinner was very dismayed. He said cops everywhere were affected, even in rural Maine. The atmosphere had changed. Cops were second-guessing themselves — thinking about how public encounters might be spun by media instead of reacting instinctively to potentially dangerous situations — and that hesitation put them in still more danger. Cops know they’re the good guys and don’t like being portrayed by media as the bad guys.
Soros funds War on Cops

It didn’t help when the day after the Michael Brown shooting, Obama’s Justice Department sent teams of people to Ferguson to instruct local officials and the general public about “White Privilege” and racism. It got worse when Democrat billionaire George Soros sent $33 million to organize Black Lives Matter. My cop friend believed things were going to get worse and he was right. Black Lives Matter and other groups held demonstrations all over the country chanting: “Pigs in a blanket [body bag]! Fry ’em like bacon!” and “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want ’em? Now!”  Hillary invited BLM leaders to meet with her. President Obama invited them to the White House. Then five cops were murdered in Dallas by an angry black man. Three more were murdered in Baton Rouge by another angry black man — all just because they were cops. Individual police officers all over the country were shot as well.
According to Heather MacDonald’s new book “War on Cops,” a cop is nineteen times more likely to be killed by a black man than a black man to be killed by a cop. That’s a fact, but media portray it otherwise. Their narrative is that racist white cops like to shoot young black men and media controls public perception. In politics, perception is reality. It’s no coincidence that Michael Brown’s parents spoke at the UN. The Democrat Party hopes to benefit from public misperception so they invited Brown's mother to speak at their National Convention in Philadelphia this week.
Democrats own this

CBS reported that: “[Philadelphia Police] Union president John McNesby says Hillary Clinton should be ashamed for allowing relatives of people killed by police to speak, but not give equal time to families of fallen officers.
Many declare that President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the Democrat Party itself have created the War on Cops. Repeatedly embracing the allegedly Reverend Al Sharpton and other race-baiters as well as granting legitimacy to wild accusations about “racist” cops has created a dangerous climate.
None of this is good and cops know it. As they back off confronting black criminals, murder rates climb. Should Democrats win in November we can expect that trend to continue.

Update 8-2-16: Well, it has continued. Four cops in Pennsylvania were shot at by two young black men last week. Their mother blamed Black Lives Matter saying, "They are in jail for doing what Black Lives Matters wanted them to do: shoot at cops," she said in a written statement. "The truth is that these are two punk kids following the orders of an irresponsible organization and now they're gonna pay for it."

I wonder what Media you are reading or listening to that has been saying "racist white cops like to shoot young black men" and tries to paint cops as bad and Black Lives Matter as good. Are you actually seeing this for yourself and not just being told by conservative media that this is happening? There is a lot of crap media out there but my guess is that the only people watching or reading these blatantly biased and twisted version of the "news" are those who's minds will never be changed by real news and facts anyway.

The linked Politico column was a very weak attempt to blame the Obama administration by saying that "condemning violence against the police and urging support for the police is markedly absent" when the facts are that even long before these recent spur of shootings Obama said "Targeting police officers is completely unacceptable – an affront to civilized society,” and has more recently said "There is no justification for violence against law enforcement. None. These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one,"

Getting your "news" from outlets like the John Birch Society owned The New American is another example of just getting spoon fed what you want to hear.

Are there any cases to be sited that show an example of a Police Officer not confronting a black criminal who then went on to murder someone? And aren't murder rates also rising for white shooters as well as black?

What I hear from honest media is that all the cop killings have been horrible and atrocious, but they also don't shy away from the fact that like in any profession, there are bad apples. For example, San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr has recommended the firing of seven officers who sent text messages that spoke of lynching African-Americans and burning crosses. Your columns, and apparently the places you get your news, are so one-side that they will not even bring up the possibility that some cops are in the wrong.

In my circle of family, friends and acquentices, 80% of which lean left, I know of not a single person who are anti-cop.

You're kidding right? Have you seen the demonstrations and heard the rhetoric? Have you heard how those saying "all lives matter" have been shamed into walking their comment back? If this is not evidence of vile hatred and bias, I don't know what is.

I suppose the statements by the Baltimore Mayor saying the rioters needed 'room to destroy' was made up by loopy media.

But if you have good sources, why not provide links to documented demonstrations in support of police?

Glad to see the DNC changed their plan to let Michael Brown's mother speak. She appeared onstage last night but didn't say anything. Meanwhile, BLM had 500 demonstrating outside the convention center. White people were told to go to the back of the line. Only black and brown people could walk up front.

Seems pretty obvious the oligarchs are inciting racial tensions. Keeps the eyes averted to what's really happening. Great distraction.
As far as the police brutality is concerned just look, yet again, to our very "special friends". The same friends who assisted in 9/11.

When McKinney, TX police officer David Eric Casebolt brutally took down a teenage girl at a pool party in June, he was using a form of martial arts called Krav Maga in which he trained exclusively. These combat techniques were developed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
This is a small reflection of a larger reality that exists in U.S. law enforcement, one that helps explain the brutality and militarization that now characterizes so many police forces. Since 9/11, cops have been traveling abroad to learn from one of the most repressive and dangerous State forces in the world today—the Israeli military and intelligence apparatus.
Political commentator John Miranda recently stated that police brutality is directly linked to the training some officers receive in Israel.
“As for the increase in police brutality within the United States, I think this definitely can be pointed towards the Israeli training that the Department of Homeland Security is giving all of American police officers.
Some police officers are actually being flown to Israel for the training, not all of them but some, and then those that are flown to Israel, they come back home and they train the head officers in the training that they’ve gotten in Israel.
All these incidents, it is not just happening to African Americans. Police are literally being brutal with all Americans.”
At least 300 high-ranking U.S. sheriffs and police from all over the country, as well as FBI and US Customs and Border Protection agents, have traveled to Israel to learn first-hand the most efficient means of subduing populations. The purported reason is counterterrorism, but protests and crowd control methods are commonly discussed.
Police are not learning from the Israeli criminal law sector that deals with Jewish residents. U.S. police are learning from Israel’s military justice system, which controls Palestinians through paramilitary and counterinsurgency tactics. Residents of Gaza and the West Bank live in what is essentially a giant prison camp, where oppression and brutality from the IDF is a way of life. The use of excessive or deadly force for crowd control is rarely questioned.

And the BLM movement, have you researched who is backing it? How it came to fruition? ....No? Shocker!!
It's a total bs farce like the rest of the bs the corporate media tries to peddle. Divide and conquer. This ain't rocket science.

Seriously?

As for All Lives Matter, using that in response to Black Lives Matter is like complaining about a breast cancer awareness event by hollering that All Cancer Matters.

And keep in mind that in America's early days black lives only mattered in that they performed free labor, and even in the Constitution only mattered 2/3 as much as a white live.

I point out these things to you with no vile hatred.

And Tom, what is your source about whites being sent to the back of a line?

I point out these things to you with no vile hatred.

So you are saying that anti-Hillary protesters are up to no good. How does that connect with a supposed "Democrat War on Cops"?

Gosh Tom, I'm Soooo jealous.....
Major news outlets have legions of overpaid "fact checkers" to disingenuously,
and consistently, massage their assigned narrative script to STILL "get it WRONG"!
Apparently, you get 'em for FREE! And let's not even discuss the free rent you (et al)are afforded in the apparent raison d'etre!
I can only urge your contrarian critics to resubmit, exactly as printed here, THEIR
opposition reasoning, to the same public paper where these bits appear.

Golly, I'm sooooo confused....

I am not sure how one is supposed to respond to allegations of "getting it WRONG" without a single example given of what is wrong.

That protesters who don't like Hillary asked whites to move back in a line?

That black lives only mattered 2/3 as much as white lives in the Constitution?

That there have been demonstrations in support of cops?

That nobody in my circle is anti-cop?

That Obama spoke out strongly against cop shootings?

That getting your "news" from only outlets that are strongly biased will leave you without seeing the whole real picture?

That it would be very hard to come up with even one or two examples of a media outlet claiming that "racist cops LIKE to shoot blacks?" (Well, I guess we did see actual proof that some cops fantasize about lynching them. Is reporting those emails a "War on Cops"?)

So what is it Capt? What was wrong. Just being a contrarian without examples is really lame.

Tom McLaughlin said...

"getting your 'news' from only outlets that are strongly biased will leave you without seeing the whole real picture."

That used to be me -- getting my news from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, New York Times, Boston Globe, and the Portland Press Herald. They all covered the same stories in the same way-- all with liberal spin, and ignoring stories that contradicted that world view. Then AM Radio began broadcasting stories the others ignored. Then I read National Review. Now I watch Fox News, and a several foreign outlets in addition to being bombarded every day by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, New York Times, Boston Globe, and the Portland Press Herald. Plus, I spent years as an Alinsky leftist, reading "In These Times, the Nation, and Mother Jones.

I personally interviewed most of the candidates in both parties during this presidential election cycle and several other candidates of both major parties during the last two cycles. Prior to that, I worked with two Democrat presidential candidates way back the 20th century.

I strongly suspect my world view is broader than yours. Maybe that's what attracts you to this site.

Peter said...

No Tom, I can say with 100% honesty that I truly believe that your world view is not bigger than mine. The real reason to what attracts me to this site is that I love to hear what people with other world views have to say.

Be honest and ask yourself this question about your columns.... Do you really try to give a fair representation of the "other side", or do you simply look for anything, no matter how little it is checked for truth, to support your side and only point out the very worst of the other? For instance, where was the nuance in a "Democrat War on Cops". Was there any mention at all about even the possibility that there might be a few bad cops? Your style is purely incendiary...to Incite, anger, insult, name call and attack. You have actually admitted several times about how much you like to anger liberals.

Being more honest , I'd go on to say that what keeps me coming back here is because I believe you are. on many levels, a decent person with many of the same interests as myself - nature, photography, concern for world affairs. Very much like my father-in-law, an Ann Coulter loving, climate denialst whom I dearly love. We tend to avoid such subjects, but should we? Why are politics and religion supposed to be taboo subjects? Aren't these the important, fascinating subjects that humanity SHOULD be discussing?

And how can I not wonder about the many questions that I pose to you that almost always go unanswered? I know there is a part of you that is forced to recognize truths in some of what I have to say, and perhaps there is the occasional idea you write in which you make me ponder for a moment.

That is why I'm here.

I'm not so convinced there's a Democrat war on cops, as there is yet another appeasement/bribery campaign toward the kind of potential voters that can only find
solace in the Democrat Party.
Oh sure, police (as a whole) need to be the scapegoats and cannon fodder, as they are the ones that have to actually enforce the "new rules", on TOP of the old ones.
I've always considered it kinda' like a (public school anyway)teachers job.
Here's a group in need of constant supervision, as they're ALWAYS "testing the boundaries", and testing the threat of consequences.
I'm always amused by "The Twinkie Defense", the "Recent studies show..." defense,
"My dog ate it!" defense, and of course "Here's why I deserve a special exception..." defense. Oh sure, they're ALWAYS worth a try!
(I've won a few, lost more)
Now,... I'm pretty lazy in my pursuit of a life of ease.
In a lifetime of experience, as well as "independent study" of history,I'm ASTOUNDED at how much MORE effort, and alleged "thought", some folks will ALWAYS exert, gamble, and "offer" to double or nothing in "getting over", instead of LESS investment actually involved in Just fly right, knuckle down, and get 'er done.
Some folks, that I choose to regularly associate with, call it "the grrrrrrr factor")

One pundit whose name I cannot recall said cops are the bulwark against the anarchy created by decades-long rule of our cities by Democrats. Chicago would be a good example. Baltimore another. It's a plausible hypothesis.

I thought of it when Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake took over as chair of the convention at the same time charges against those Baltimore police officers were dropped. Being black, she could preside. Chicago Mayor Emmanuel, however, had to keep his head down. He's white and Jewish, and he covered up an actual murder of a young black man by a white cop. The mainstream media do not trumpet that case, however, even though there was be much stronger evidence that a crime had been committed.

Rawlings-Blake told her cops to stand down while her city burned. State Attorney Marilyn Mosby had a conniption fit when her case fell apart because she could not admit she had no case to begin with. It was all political theater: cops, black and white, were scapegoated. The case against them was a red herring to distract from incompetent Democrat governance. Former Baltimore Mayor O'Malley showed his face here and there as well. Is he tarnished by what's happening to his city? Not in the least because the mainstream media cover for all of them.

Meanwhile, BLM marched outside, putting white people in back. Full of the white guilt which pervades the Democrat electorate, they meekly walked back there. After Dallas and Baton Rouge cop massacres, BLM got too hot for the Hillary and Obama during their big celebration. Best let that die down before once again embracing their pet, Soros-created movement. If Trump wins, the Dems and the MSM will trumpet BLM once again -- even more than before.

Wait a second, a war on cops? What does that even mean? Sounds like corporate media fabricated fairy tales to me. It's not the last gasp of unfettered capitalism that is burying the poor, black and white, it's a war on cops. It's not that we sold our manufacturing infrastructure and have no work force, it's a war on cops. This is Really unbelievable. What we are witnessing is what happens when you eliminate the middle class and let the banks run wild. This war on cops meme seems like distraction for the simpletons of corporate media. As is the continuing illusion of a two party system. This is an oligarchy. Period. An empire that is dying. This idea of identifying with one of two parties, who are controlled by the SAME people is beyond absurd! Arguing about who digests the right "news" from which source is simply stupid. We have no real media anymore, no more fourth estate. Fox and CNN are two side of the same coin. Divide and conquer. It isn't anything to brag about or be proud of. Are you proud of being a wage slave too?

We live in a world where Donald trump and Hillary Clinton are running for president...Donald trump and Hillary Clinton... And you think we live in a free democratic society! Haha. War on cops? Hardly. And yes, Johan above is right. Post 9/11 Israel has been "training" our police to become militarized brutal bullies. Easily researched fact.

Not to mention either one will continue our agenda of endless war, a farcical and growingly transparent war on "terror", more fake tragedies, les and less American jobs and crumbling infrastructure, horrific healthcare and education, but hey, we'll give away billions to our "friends".

Don't forget our founding fathers detested political parties. For obvious reasons. The ones we are witnessing. So to be proud to be either a republican or democrat, in my eyes, is pathetic....divide and conquer, read the comments on this blog and you see it's working.
It would be convenient if the world did work like it does in an eight grade text book. Sadly, it doesn't. Even more sad is when you realize that text book was essentially all lies.

I agree with with Stephen when he says "This war on cops meme seems like distraction for the simpletons of corporate media."

That is standard operating procedure. Just look back at the Republican convention with nothing but fear mongering and the insulting of scapegoats. Solutions offered? Hah! Their convention was like this site - tough questions not being answered. Not a sign at all of any grrrr factor or "getting' it done".

just wondering, did Trump allow relatives of fallen police to speak without giving equal time to families of those killed by police?

Tom McLaughlin said...

I must admit that Trump gave speaking time to families of those killed by illegal alien criminals, but didn't offer any speaking opportunities to any of the 200,000 criminal illegals Obama released into American communities.

I think that what really grants legitimacy to accusations about “racist” cops are things like the already mentioned texts by cops speaking of lynching blacks, or the Three Fort Lauderdale Police officers who were fired after an internal affairs investigation found that the cops spent time on the taxpayer clock sending one another racist text messages and sharing a racially charged video using racial slurs and images.

http://wonkette.com/580566/lets-watch-the-super-racist-video-that-cost-four-florida-cops-their-jobs#wvJhyzWqqdVLu8Fd.99

I am sure most cops are not racist, but of course there are some that are. Why dance around this fact? Placing more blame on people like Sharpton than on such blatantly racist incidents (not even mentioned at all) is either ignorant or purposely deceitful. Shameful either way.

Once again I will step aside now and let you stew in all the unanswered questions.

Anonymous said...

"the 200,000 criminal illegals Obama released into American communities."

Reality check for Tom:

The number of people living in the U.S. illegally has declined, according to independent estimates by demographers.
The Pew Research Center estimated the number at 11.7 million in 2008, and most recently at 11.3 million in 2014, a decline of roughly 400,000, or 3.4 percent.

The Center for Migration Studies estimated that the drop has been even more pronounced, going from 12 million in 2008 to 10.9 million in 2014. That would be a decrease of 1.1 million, or 9 percent.

Such estimates are inexact, but demographers have applied consistent methodologies from year to year, and agree that the trend has been downward.

In any field there are going to be bad apples. The problem with police is that in too many cases the good police officers are willing to submit deceptive police reports and to even commit perjury in order to protect bad cops.

A good example was in Henderson NV in 2010 where five police officers watched as the sixth officer kicked a handcuffed, semiconscious man in the head five times. The police officer thought the man was drunk but when they found out that he was in diabetic shock they just laughed. All six police officers filed reports that said that the semiconscious man resisted arrest. The police department fought for over a year to prevent the release of videos which showed the entire incident.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/diabetic-man-beaten-henderson-police-during-traffic-stop

People who live in poor neighborhoods are much more likely to see this sort of behavior. If you have seen a police officer commit a felony in front of you and get defended by their fellow officers it would be easy to start not trusting all police officers. Defending your fellow officers no matter what is acting like a gang, not professional police officers.
