Question Reality?
“I wasn’t talking.”
“Hmm. Your lips were moving. Sound was coming out. The person you were facing was looking at you and nodding, but you weren’t talking?”
“No.”
“So, I should believe you, and not my own eyes and ears?”
“Whatever.”
That word is telling. It’s what we’re left with when we deny objective reality. Anyone can talk in my class, but only one at a time and only on the subject. Using the Socratic method, that’s how it has to be. I gave him a consequence and moved on, but I was troubled by his nonchalant denial of the obvious because I’m seeing it around me more and more. Either the world is getting crazy or I am. Once I saw a bumper sticker saying “Question Reality” and I laughed, but I don't think it's funny anymore.
Objective reality hard to perceive exactly sometimes, but we have to believe it exists or we can’t function. It can be fun to question it and consider that everything is relative during late-night bull sessions, but if we pretend objective reality doesn’t exist, we’ll suffer painful consequences. General Custer discovered this when he ignored reports that thousands of warriors could be just over the hill. “Whatever,” he thought, and ordered an attack. Denial of objective reality is most dangerous during wartime and that’s exactly what our president, his party, and the mainstream media are doing by denying the obvious: that the Fort Hood massacre was an act of Radical Muslim terrorism. After September 11th and all that’s happened since, it astonishes me to see Americans are nodding at their ludicrous claims that Major Hasan was really suffering from vicarious PTSD while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” as he mowed down our soldiers. That he contacted al Qaeda twenty times and asked what he could do to further the jihad and told fellow doctors: “Infidels should have their throats cut,” and “non-believers should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats” is not evidence of Islamofascism, but symptomatic of second-hand stress from counseling returning soldiers.
Whatever.
In education, I’m accustomed to the constant drone of “multiculturalism” and “diversity,” but in our military too? According to Army Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters, “A dirty big secret in our Army has been that officers' promotion boards have quotas for minorities. We don't call them quotas, of course. But if a board doesn't hit the floor numbers, its results are held up until the list has been corrected. It's almost impossible for the Army's politically correct promotion system to pass over a Muslim physician. Sen. Joe Lieberman . . . needs to call the officers who sat on Hasan's promotion board before the Senate, put them under oath, then ask if Hasan made major because of minority-quota requirements.”
According to Obama’s Army Chief of Staff General Casey, however: “[A]s horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.”
Incredible.
We are most definitely at war, but it’s not like World Wars I & II. It’s not like Korea or Vietnam either. It’s unique. According to some analysts, we’ve been at it since Iran took over our embassy in 1979. That was the first offensive action by Radical Muslims against us, and there have been many since. We were broken out of our denial by the September 11th attacks, but we’re crawling right back into it by pretending our enemies are nothing but common criminals to be handled in the court system. Khalid Sheik Muhammad and the other defendants who planned and carried out September 11th have already admitted their culpability and asked to be executed, but President Obama insists they be tried in a New York City courtroom instead of being lined up and shot as many of us would wish.
President Clinton treated the 1993 World Trade Center attack, killing six, as a criminal matter instead of an act of war and that was a big mistake. It was attacked again in 2001, killing 3000. In the interim, there were attacks on our embassies in Africa, killing twelve, on American soldiers in Saudi Arabia, killing nineteen, and on the USS Cole in 2000, killing nineteen. Rather than learn from Clinton’s blunders, though, Obama is repeating them.
Radical Islam resurrected itself with the establishment of the Muslim Brotherhood in 1928 and it’s goal has been to reunite Islam with government. There had been a separation of church and state (or church and mosque) in the countries of the Muslim world after years of European influence in the region and the Muslim Brotherhood would reunite the two. By 1979, Iran had declared itself an Islamic Republic and started attacking the west immediately, especially the United States. Osama Bin Laden declared war on us in 1996. Then Iran did in 2006. Both have attacked and killed Americans by the hundreds in the case of Iran and in the thousands in the case of Bin Laden.
Bush called it the “War on Terror.” That’s a misnomer because terror is a tactic, not an entity, but Bush was reticent about calling our enemy by its name: Radical Islam. That was bad enough, but the linguistic contortions the Obama government is willing to make are astounding. It dropped “War on Terror” in favor of “Overseas Contingency Operations,” whatever the hell that means, and his Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, now calls attacks of Islamic terrorism like September 11th “Man-caused Disasters.”
Whatever.
After President Obama suspends our “Overseas Contingency Operations” as he seems about to do, the next “Man-caused disaster” we experience at the hands of these “criminals” could produce not only political and economic fall-out, but also the radioactive variety.

Didn't you write this same boring column last week?
Well said - thank you for the observations that you share, Mr. McLaughlin. The "head in the sand" stance of our leaders is putting us in peril. Please keep up the voice of sanity and of warning.
There are radical Muslims and there are radical Christians. All are flawed human beings who have lost touch with humanity and are bent on destroying those who do not agree with their views and beliefs.
"Whatever" is an internationally used cop-out word used to disguise an inability to admit the truth or properly express ones point of view for fear of reprisals.
Once again, you hit the nail on the head, Tom.
When my son was attending a well known Military College he ran into the "protect the minorities" drill at all costs. While he was there females were, for the first time in their history, accepted. Nobody liked it but there was alot of pressure from the top. Because of state funding there was no choice.
After so many females dropped out because of the rigorous training, my son, who was a leader, was called in to his superiors and told if one more female didn't make it, he was going out as well even though he had a steller reputation and leadership position.
It's really sad to see our civil government handcuff our military all for PC. Allowing our government to castrate our military is way beyond discernment.
Enough already!
What a great article to follow some of those from the past weeks!
We had global warming denial...."the ice caps are melting MUCH faster than anticipated..."
Whatever.
We had the denial of the evidence supporting the possibility of people being born gay...
"What, my twisting of the Spitzer study was debunked by Spitzer himself?"
Whatever.
"Oh, there were only tens of thousands of people at the Washington protest and not millions like I said?"
Whatever.
Face it, your articles have become jokes to everybody except those who deny reality...but I know your response to this...
Whatever.
Interesting comment by General Casey....do you think Bush nominated the wrong guy for the position of Chief of Staff to the Army?
I do.
His statement speaks for itself. He thinks diversity is more important than thirteen soldiers' lives.
...I agree too - dang that Bush.
...I agree too - dang that Bush.
A couple of notes to Educator McLaughlin:
Please check your spelling: the name of the purported 9/11 mastermind is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. If you're going to opine about him, please try to be accurate. Do it, as has been said, for the children.
Check your grammar, also. You used it's for its. Admittedly a common mistake among the unwashed readers of your screeds but, c'mon, you should know better.
Finally: If you feel that KSM (see above) doesn't deserve a trial, perhaps you - as a one-man jury and executioner - ought to go out, pick up criminals (or those you suspect of same) and just....lynch 'em. Would save the taxpayers money and would conform nicely to your judicial sense.
I'm just sayin'....
Hey, Irregardles, what are you, one of the intelligencia? You know that "educator" Tom does not have any regard for intelligence - he has said so himself! Who needs intelligence or hoity toity "facts" to teach? A little misspelling of some Arabic name?
Whatever.
That "irregardless" is a double negative is fitting for an anonymous harpie like yourself.
Some information for you: There is no uniform spelling when translating from Arabic to English.
When is it its?
When it's not it is.
When is it it's?
When it is it is.
I know the conventions, but I'm a better writer than editor. That's why you always read me, gutless one. You've been suffering from Empty Scrotum Syndrome (ESS) for quite a while now, haven't you? Maybe some day you'll grow a pair and write over your name.
Oooh, Tom is touchy about his shortcomings!
Tom makes juvinile scrotum jokes as a comeback!! (It looks like you are learning more from your students than they are from you).
And Tom thinks he is a good writer...how cute!
By the way, if your WERE a good editor then your column, after taking out all grammatical mistakes, factual errors and worthless blathering, would be about 8 words long every week.
Sure is mighty ironic - ain't it? - that when tweaked, Educator McL reverts to (puerile) ad hominem attacks and, most specifically, comments about scrota and 'growing a pair'.
Sort of goes with the recent x-rated photos he displayed of leather-clad, tumescent men during his recent homophobic diatribe.
"Methinks..."
Calling Dr. Freud. Calling Dr. Freud.
Tom
While I usually agree with you this is one instance where i don't. In my opinion calling this guy a terrorist is doing him an honor. In my eyes he's nothing but a Coward. One who when required to do the job for which he signed up to do, did everything he could to get out of it. How is it in the age of an all volunteer military someone can claim to be a conscientious objector?
To qualify as ‘terrorism,’ an act has to be committed to instill fear for the purpose of achieving political goals. If it's just an angry Muslim who went nuts and starts shooting people, he’s a psychopath and a killer but not a terrorist. Even if he was trying to send an “I’ll show them” message, he’s no more a terrorist than the Columbine killers, the lunatic who shot up Virginia Tech, or one of those postal workers who go on a rampage.
Now, evidence is still pouring in. Hasan reportedly “once gave a lecture to other doctors in which he said non-believers should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats” and actually “was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda.” That, combined with various Internet postings and other rants, at very least makes him a terrorist sympathizer.
But even if Hasan was an al Qaeda wannabe who was trying to restore the Caliphate with his evil deeds, I’m not sure that he’s a “terrorist” in any sense that really matters. If he’s just a lone fanatic rather than part of an organized group, the difference between him and any other mass murderer is academic. Indeed, Charles Manson was politically motivated and actually had a group of followers but he’s never referred to as a “terrorist.”
Is SCOTT ROEDER, murderer of Dr. George Tiller, considered a 'terrorist' ? How about TIMOTHY MC VEIGH?
YES and YES, However neither are Islamic Terrorists.
Definition of Terrorism under U.S. Law:
United States Law Code – the law that governs the entire country – contains a definition of terrorism embedded in its requirement that Annual Country reports on Terrorism be submitted by the Secretary of State to Congress every year. (From U.S. Code Title 22, Ch.38, Para. 2656f(d)
(d) Definitions
(1) the term “international terrorism” means terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than 1 country;
(2) the term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents;
Unless this killer is shown to have been a secret member of al queda or other terrorist organization then he is NOT a terrorist under US law.
Is "scrotum" your password on "Manhunt" Tom?
What's "Manhunt"?
Interesting how Tom doesn't (can't?) defend himself against points vital to his arguement - such as what comprises a "terrorist", but has time to make immature scrotum jokes and inquire about Manhunt.
Whatever.
...not that there's anything wrong with that.
www.manhunt.net
Manhunt is a place for you to meet the big, leather clad man of your dreams. He'll give you a spanking that will make you squeal like a schoolboy and beg for more. Then he will clasp you to his manly bosom and teach you the ways of man love.
Thanks for the explanation. That's fine for you but I'll pass.
Tom
Can you do your readers a favor and start deleting the cantankerous leftist idiots?
Please?
I know they will bitch and scream about their interpretation of what they think "freedom of speech" means, being violated, but your comment section is becoming really filthy and unreadable.
I think, many of your readers would be willing to register for the privilege to comment here and not have to put up with the anonymous slimeballs.
Ah, yes - another "First- Amendment-when-it-works-for-me" patriotic Republican.
Educator McLaughlin (and some of his right-wing ilk who write [sic] for the Conway Daily Sun) routinely spew the most vile, false and disgraceful invective. But, apparently they (and their sycophants) can't take the heat.
Now, that's the Amerikan way!!
cool....................................................................................................
H. Hudson,
I understand your feelings, but for now at least, I'd like to let them stand because they're perfect examples of what the odious left is. Their ilk are running our country now - right into the ground of course - and all the world is watching.
They don't know how to lead and they don't know how to govern. They have no convictions and they have no courage. All they know how to do is blame and harp.
They're ugly, but they're our reality until 2010 and 2012 at least.
After that, we'll have to try to pick up whatever pieces are left as best we can.
Er...Educator McLaughlin?
All they know how to do is blame and harp.
Excuse me, but who - in fact - began the incivil path of this discussion and lowered same with ad hominem attacks and multiple sexual innuendoes?
I'm just sayin'...
Irregardless:
Did you know that Irregardless isn't a word? I think what you meant was 'Regardless' or maybe 'irrespective'
Thanks for the grammar tip, but I'm fully (one might say 'painfully') aware that 'irregardless' isn't a word. It's just heard so often (incorrectly) that it begs to be used as the title to my comments to Educator McL.
Apt.
Tom
The little swampies do not need to be chronicled. I see and (unfortunately) read and hear them every day in the MSM, politics and academia.
If you want to give them a home here - more power to you!
I, for one, have no use for their sloppy thinking and verbal excrement.
"They're ugly, but they're our reality until 2010 and 2012 at least."
Hey Tom,
got to meet Glenn Beck yesterday. He unveiled his latest plan to me and about 25,000 others in Florida at a rally. Afterwards I got to meet him in person. He was very warm, calm and engaging unlike his animated self we usually see. He looked me directly in the eye and thanked me for coming.
He's going to be holding seven conventions all across the country and educate the American people on all sorts of topics like history, education, politics and economics. These conventions will be lenghty so he told us to wise up and rest up basically. We've got lots of work to do.
The first convention is in Orlando in March 2010.
Really, Dawn – Glenn Beck??!!?? The right-wing con man? People like Beck, Rush and Coulter make millions putting out right-wing propaganda to the Republican suckers who buy their garbage. It's all a con game, they are lying to you, to get famous and wealthy. In fact, I bet if you hooked Beck (or the others) up to a lie detector machine, and asked him if he believes the spin he puts out he would fail if he said yes.
They basically run a con on the 1% of the poplulation who they can sucker in.
Dawn, how do you rationalize being a fan of someone so dishonest. I could fill up pages with his lies – let’s examine a few.
In the past, hosting the Olympics has been a source of pride and unity for the country, but once again Fox News' Glenn Beck program has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings.
LIE: BECK SAID VANCOUVER LOST $1 BILLION WHEN IT "HAD THE OLYMPICS." Glenn Beck said, "Vancouver lost, how much was it? they lost a billion dollars when they had the Olympics." [Transcript, Glenn Beck Show, 9/29/09]
REALITY: VANCOUVER'S OLYMPICS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE UNTIL 2010. Vancouver will host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games from February 12 – 28, 2010 and March 12-21, 2010, respectively. [Vancouver2010.com, accessed 9/29/09]
OK, maybe you want to pass that off as an ignorant “mistake”. Here’s one where there is no doubt as to his willingly and knowingly lying:
BECK: Now they're worried about bombings taking place. Well, let me show you some new footage. A bombing did take place this past week in a town just north of Seattle called Everett. The only reason why I know this story is because I was there. Radio station KRKO, their towers were blown up. When freedom of speech is being squelched, the left usually says, "That's fascist!" But in this case the left doesn't even call them anything!
Wow, sounds terrible right, a right-wing radio station tower was blown up by liberals to supress their free speech rights. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Nothing was bombed, and nobody was there to supress anyones free speech, in fact, there were no bombs, none, zero, and it had nothing to do with free speech. Some local people used a tractor to push the towers over, and it had nothing to do with free speech, but was about the towers being a public nuisance.
Here is a quote from the same article Beck used to claim the towers were bombed:
"What they used was a machine called an excavator…they went and attached it to the tower and pushed one of them over and pulled the other one down."
Just to be clear, nothing was bombed, and no bombs were used. And yet Glenn Beck goes on National TV and claims those radio station towers were bombed to supress their free speech. And this man claims to have a crack staff that never gets it wrong. When I could post here every day with numerous outright lies from Beck, the man is a walking, talking, lie machine spouting his fearmongering statements and crazed right-wing conspiracy theories. How about his whopper (which he was forced to back down from) about FEMA creating concentration camps for “dissidents” and comparing Obama to Hitler?!?
Anyway, while people like Beck preach to their tiny, but shrillinglly loud little choir of theirs they are turning off millions of Americans to Republicans and Conservatives in general. Which is a shame because the Republican party has many good ideas and platforms that gets tarnished and drowned out by these morally corrupt bigmouths.
wow Peter. Beck sure has set you on edge hasn't he?
I say he's pretty much exposing the lies and corruption on Capitol Hill more than anything.
As far as your examples go, I'm not the one to comment on them since I don't even watch Beck because I don't get Fox News. I'll leave that to others to comment on.
I went there to meet him, listen to what he has to say and get a book autographed for my dad who is a huge Beck fan. He turned 71 on the day I met Beck.
I saw alot of older retired servicemen there in attendance which spoke alot to me. Many stood up to cheer Beck on when he spoke about protecting our freedom and taking a stand against corruption in our government.
He made alot more sense than what I'm hearing coming out of the White House lately.
He made alot more sense than what I'm hearing coming out of the White House lately.
Where to begin....
Now that Beck has kicked his alcohol and marijuana habits (guess substance abuse sort of goes with the territory, eh Rush?) his two most famous tag lines are that:
President Obama hates white people ("a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture") - I guess Glenn forgot about the President's own mother
-and-
He hates the families of the 9/11 attacks for asking too many questions.
If this is the flag-bearer of the GOP then, go for it or, should I say, "Bring it on!"
(...how proud you must be)
Oh, and a quick Google search failed to reveal Herr Beck's military record. Was it a pilonidal cyst, depression, 'other priorities' or something else that kept this patriot from picking up a gun?
Here is a letter to Glen Beck written by a decorated veteren:
Dear Mr. Beck,
The image you have so carelessly planted in the minds of your viewers, that regular, honest, hardworking American supporters of Dr. Ron Paul are a bunch of ‘terrorists’, is not only inaccurate, but grossly negligent, sir! I take extreme umbrage with your assertions. I am a former Marine, decorated with a Good Conduct Medal, a Navy Unit Commendation, and an Overseas Deployment ribbon for my service to these United States from 1982 to 1986. Seeing as we are both forty-three I think it’s safe to say that while I was serving my country, you were much more busy becoming a drug addict and practicing to become an alcoholic, correct?
You see, unlike you sir, I have taken the time to gather some facts to support my position. I love this country and its people more than life itself, and would at a moment’s notice put my life on the line once again in her defense. I took an oath to uphold our Constitution, and I take this oath very seriously.
You sir have done a grave disservice to me personally by implying that I am a terrorist because I support Dr. Ron Paul. Mr. Beck, your implication that Ron Paul supporters, like myself, are terrorists, is so far beyond the pale of reasoning that I fail to understand how you could formulate this opinion. Now I’m not naive, I know this was not some spontaneous thought you were sharing with your audience. I realize this was something you ran by your staff and bosses alike. You had to book the guests that would be sympathetic to your views in order to project the desired effect for your viewers. Plain and simple sir, this was a tongue-in-cheek political hit piece directed at Dr. Ron Paul’s Presidential Campaign by casting his supporters as domestic terrorists. I find this type of guerrilla journalism very distasteful and a betrayal of America and our ideals of the sanctity of a free press that is suppose to inform its body politic, not to deceive its people as you have chosen to do. As I stated earlier, I am not naive sir, and I realize you could care less how I feel or about my opinion of you, and that’s just fine by me. But what you are doing is just plain wrong, and you will have to atone for your actions at some point in time. But until then you have lost a faithful viewer.
I know it is of little consequence to you but as a matter of principle I can no longer support a network that supplies a platform from which you so carelessly spew your hate and rhetoric. I will also be boycotting all of your sponsors’ products until they pull their support in the form of advertising dollars that go to pay your salary. Here is the list of people and companies I will be contacting.
ok Dawn, so you admit you are ignorant to what Beck's program is all about because you don't watch it. Now that you are aware that his show is full of lies (I can list many more if you wish) will you still blindly support him?
I mean it is pretty rediculous to be out there "exposing the lies and corruption on Capitol Hill" by using lies yourself, no?
He's out for money and laughing all the way to the bank....
Anonymous:
Thank you very much for posting that.
Here's an interesting (and terrifying) article about Patriot Beck:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/22/business/media/22beck.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=glenn%20beck&st=cse
He (and Quitter Palin) are really the gifts that keep on giving.
Here is another sample of the type of deluded and offensive narcissism that we've come to expect from Beck. During one of Beck's rants he tried to cast himself as some sort of prophet whose warnings about bin Laden fell on deaf ears: "In the 1990s, I was on the radio warning people about Osama bin Laden, not because I was some super-smart genius. I just listened to the man's words. I really believed him.... but I like the rest of America went back to sleep on the terrorist threat."
Here are his actual comments on Osama bin Laden from the archives:
BECK: Now, another newspaper in Pakistan says that it received a statement for the--from the spokesperson for Azma bin Ladin [sic]. Is that is name? Bin Ladin? Bin Ladeen? Bin jelly bean, green bean, Mr. Clean? I love him. He's hot. He says he's ready for war with the U.S. Oh yes? Thank you Mr. Baked Bean.
Yup, he sure was taking Bin Laden seriously, huh? Rewrite history however you want Beck, there will always be enough suckers out there to believe it.
Dawn, just so you don’t think it is just liberals pointing out Beck’s lies and nastiness, here are some comments from conservatives:
Former Bush speechwriter Peter Wehner: "The role Glenn Beck is playing is harmful in its totality." In a post for Commentary magazine's Contentions blog, Peter Wehner, a regular contributor to the blog, stated, "Only recently have I watched portions of [Beck's] television program, as well as interviews with him, and heard parts of his radio program. And what I've seen should worry the conservative movement." He later added, "Some of Beck's are quite unfair and not good for the country." Wehner also stated [commentarymagazine.com, 9/21/09]
Mark Levin: Beck "mindless," "incoherent," "pandering," and "pathetic." On September 21, conservative radio host Mark Levin attacked Beck saying “…it may be entertaining, but from my perspective, it's not. It's pathetic." [Think Progress, 9/22/09]
David Frum: "GOP Surrenders to Beck's Mob Rule." In a September 11 blog post titled "GOP Surrenders to Beck's Mob Rule," former Bush speechwriter David Frum stated: "When Glenn Beck made his Fox debut, some shrewd conservatives responded with a wink. Maybe the show was paranoid and hysterical. Maybe Beck was none too scrupulous about facts and truth. But why be squeamish? The other side did as bad, or nearly. And see how usefully he mobilized the base! Those shrewd conservatives assumed Beck was working for them. Big mistake. Beck is working for himself -- and he chooses his targets according to his own scheme of priorities." In the blog post, Frum stated: "Glenn Beck is not the first to make a pleasant living for himself by reckless defamation. We have seen his kind before in American journalism and American politics, and the good news is that their careers never last long. But the bad news is that while their careers do last, such people do terrible damage."
Hasselbeck slams Beck: On ABC's The View, co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said of Beck's racist comments: "There's danger in what he said, too. ... That was a bit sensationalist to go and say something like this. And I think whenever you throw that word out at somebody, you better be able to back it up. And he's not able to." [7/30/09]
Little Green Footballs' Johnson: " Conservative blogger Charles Johnson said on his blog, Little Green Footballs, "TIME Magazine's David Von Drehle asks: Is Glenn Beck Bad for America? I don't know why anyone would think a far right populist demagogue who rants and weeps in front of millions of people and spreads conspiracy theories straight out of the canon of the John Birch Society would be a bad thing." In a subsequent post, Johnson said of Wehner's "Glenn Beck harms the conservative movement
In addition to media conservatives, GOP Rep. Inglis told town hall attendees to turn off Beck's show. At an August town hall event, Republican Rep. Bob Inglis (SC) said to attendees who watch Glenn Beck: "Turn that television off."
"All they know how to do is blame and harp."
Good one, Tom....another spit out my coffee moment! This is the ultimate example of the pot calling the kettle blacK!!
lol
Yes, the Harper harping about harper's was quite amusing. Also, how about the comment "they have no convictions"? lol
I guess if you have different convictions than ol' Tom than you must have none at all...
...meanwhile, Obama is picking up the pieces of the disastrous Bush era and giving The USA back it's respect and dignity throughout the world!
Wow! Just Wow! and, for that last comment...
YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
Dawn, after seeing all those comments from conservatives about Beck, have you changed your mind about him?
If not.....WOW!!!!
And yes, it certainly is great having our respect and dignity back!
Wow. Beck really gets to these anonymous harpies, huh Dawn? Beck and Palin. Very interesting.
Don't know too much about him, but now I'm curious. I know he's exposed some communists on President Obama's staff who've been forced to resign.
I know the Obama minions tried to organize a boycott of his sponsors, but it didn't work. Beck has drawn left-wing blood. Maybe that's why harpy feathers are flying here.
Whoever he is, I think I like him. I'm going to listen in.
And Peter: "It sure is great having our respect and dignity back."
That was sardonic, right?
If respect and dignity is what Obama received in China, I'd hate to see what their disdain would look like.
To the anonymous Glenn Beck hater...You know he's a Libertarian and not a Republican right?
COMMUNISTS? On Obama's staff?
Ole Tombo is stuck in 1952 - seeing Commies in every closet that he dasn't dare come out of.
"Whoever he is, I think I like him. I'm going to listen in."
Well he sure has the lefties here on your site coming unglued. That in itself is evidence that something is going on.
And for the Anon(s) who listed the long list of Beck critics. Com'on everyone has their critics and the more outspoken one is the more criticism he/she will receive. You mention Rush, Ann and Glenn. I'd say all three are pretty outspoken. So sure, they're going to be targets. They're not PC.
I've seen some good godly men and women get criticised over the stupidist things because there wasn't anything else to take them out on.
And like I said I can't answer all the claims made here against Beck without doing the research first. All I can say is the guy is unlike most in that he uses not only alot of drama and animation but also alot of tongue and cheek. You can't take that stuff literally.
It's like if he said "it's raining cats and dogs" you want to jump on him calling him a liar when you look out the window and ONLY see rain.
Oh, and BTW...Palin is here tomorrow. She'll be two miles from my home. I may bike down and see her if I get the time.
Oh, and I just wanted to add I saw a woman stand near Beck's Bus for at least an hour with a big sign she was holding high. You know what it said on it?
"Recovering Democrat."
There's hope yet for all you lefties. You can recover as well. All you have to do first is admit you have a problem. :)
Tom, I highly recommend Beck's show to you! You would like him a great deal and might even learn a little more about how to put dishonest spins on things. Take your comment about Beck having "exposed some communists" - can you name them for me? Perhaps you are thing of Van Jones? The same Van Jones who wrote in his book The Green Collar Economy , released in October 2008:
"There will surely be an important role for nonprofit voluntary, cooperative, and community-based solutions," Jones writes on page 86. "But the reality is that we are entering an era during which our very survival will demand invention and innovation on a scale never before seen in the history of human civilization. Only the business community has the requisite skills, experience, and capital to meet that need. On that score, neither the government nor the nonprofit and voluntary sectors can compete, not even remotely.
Or how about this, from an address before the Center for American Progress on Nov. 19, 2008 (well before Jones was brought into the Obama administration):
"Everything that is good for the environment, everything that's needed to beat global warming, is a job," Jones said. "Solar panels don't manufacture themselves. Wind turbines don't manufacture themselves. Homes don't weatherize themselves. Every single thing that we need to beat global warming will also beat the recession. And the challenge is, how do we get the government to be a smart, and limited, catalyst in getting the private sector to take on this challenge?"
Does that sound Marxist to you? It certainly didn't to the factcheckers at Politifact who said at best Beck could claim that Van Jones USED to ave communist leaning in his youth. The thing is, Beck insists on claiming he IS a communist, not WAS. Not a big deal, perhaps, for a dishonest writer as yourself - one who claims Beck exposed "communists". Even pretending Beck was right on Van Jones - who are the others you refer to?
Anyway, Beck and his ilk have totally destroyed the Far Right, who are now considered to be over-the-top lying wackos by the general population.
Listen to Beck, get a few more tips, and carry on the good work!
lol
Palin is also making an appearance near my home, but unfortunately I already have something planned for that time that is a bit more intellectually stimulating and with more substance...an "I Love Lucy" marathon on TV!
"In Sarah Palin's new book, she says when she first laid eyes on her future husband, she said out loud, 'Thank you, God,' which is the same thing the Democrats said when they first laid eyes on Sarah Palin." -Conan O'Brien
